# HASHTAGS #

This is the big debate…where should you be putting your Instagram hashtags? 🏷
First of all, let’s get back to basics. If you aren’t already familiar with them, hashtags are generally letters or words following the hash symbol #. Their purpose is to categorise your social media content and to make them more discoverable 🔭
That’s all very well, Rhea, but where do I put them? I can see some people adding them to their actual caption, while others are including them as comments on their post…which is better?
Well, according to a study by the Social Insider, both are valuable! 💍
Based on their findings, they recommend that ‘small-medium’ profiles (up to 100k followers) should place hashtags in the caption, as it brings them more reach per post. Profiles with 100k+ followers on the other hand, have better reach (15.9%) when posting hashtags in the comments sections.
